Partnering with CareerWork$ Medical on Career Development

As a major employer in the Puget Sound region, Swedish is proud of our thousands of caregivers who serve in a variety of roles and professions throughout the organization. I am grateful Swedish provides good jobs to thousands of people in the community.I am also proud Swedish actively seeks to partner with like-minded organizations in the community to support individuals in achieving their goals for career development and advancement. Last month, we celebrated our first cohort of GrowHire graduates who are now filling essential roles at Swedish. This month, I want to spotlight our incredible partnership with the CareerWork$ Medical program.
CareerWork$ Medical is a partnership between the YWCA of Seattle, King & Snohomish Counties and the Biller Family Foundation that provides job training and placement support for those who are interested in getting a foot in the door for careers in health care administration.
Participants in the CareerWork$ Medical program go through two months of foundational career development training and receive ongoing support to prepare for critical roles in health care such as Patient Services Representative, Patient Care Coordinator and Patient Registration Representative.
After completing the training program, graduates are immediately connected to Swedish hiring managers to learn about available employment opportunities. In our year-long partnership with CareerWork$ Medical, Swedish has hired graduates into our Patient Service Representative Float pool, Central Services, Neuroepilepsy, Physiatry and Diabetes clinics.
By partnering with programs like CareerWork$ Medical, we can address our workforce needs, create economic opportunity for community members, and build career pathways in health care for people who live the Swedish values and serve our communities.
